Purdue University

From Jacqueline F. Hills, Senior Assistant Director of Communications and the staff of the  Office of Enrollment Management:

Bruno’s
212 Brown Street
West Lafayette, IN

Looking for a local hot spot where you’ll be completely surrounded by Purdue sports memorabilia?  Bruno’s is the place to go.  Pictures, jerseys, news articles about Purdue sports stars’ college and pro careers – it’s all plastered throughout the place. Amidst the fun historical sports environment, there is a wide-ranging menu of appetizers, dinner entrees, and most important PIZZA!  You might even want to try what a Super Bowl Champion prefers — the “Drew Brees” specialty pizza that comes sans cheese!

Maru Sushi
111 North Chauncey Avenue
West Lafayette, IN

Maru is a “hole in the wall,” convenient spot for students, faculty and staff to get their Japanese sushi fix. Diners can try Purdue specific rolls like the Chauncey or Purdue. Plan accordingly, though, if you want to beat lunch and dinner crowds since seating is limited.

McGraw’s
2707 South River Road
West Lafayette, IN

The best steak, chop and fish house, McGraw’s also offers a view of the Wabash River while dining. Nestled off the beaten path, this fine dining venue is a popular hot spot for locals and students on any special occasion.   Be sure to put in a reservation ahead of time. Depending on the time of year, the place can book quickly!

The Trails
325 Burnett Road
West Lafayette, IN

The Trails is a great Sunday brunch spot for students and visiting families.  Tucked away just 5 minutes from campus, it offers diners a quaint, country home-style cooking buffet.  From “make it yourself omelets” to mouthwatering pastries, there is something for everyone!

Greyhouse
100 Northwestern Avenue
West Lafayette, IN

Greyhouse is known on campus as not only a great place to relax, study, and hang out, but as the place for great coffee.  Choose from many different brews including pour overs, French press, etc. Also, be sure to try the gelato.  Lots of new flavors every week and season!

Basil Thai & Bubble Tea
135 South Chauncey Avenue, Suite 2C
West Lafayette, IN

Whether you are looking for curry or Bubble Teas, this is a great place in Chauncey Village.  There are lots of options of red, green and yellow curry.  Be sure to try one of the different Bubble Tea offerings with flavored milk, flavored tea, blended ice, or blended ice and cream.  Fruit options range from mango to passion fruit with your choice of tapioca or cocktail fruit jelly additives!

Nine Irish Brothers
119 Howard Avenue
West Lafayette, IN

A local, family-owned Irish pub within walking distance from campus, Nine Irish Brothers is known for traditional Irish fare like corn beef and cabbage, Shepherd’s pie, and bangers and mash, as well as a place to see live entertainment on weekends.  Looking for a summertime patio? Come spring, Nine Irish Brothers has plenty of outdoor seating.

Triple XXX
S.R. 26 West and Salisbury
West Lafayette, IN

Probably the most nationally recognized local restaurant is Triple XXX.  You have seen them showcased in USA Today Travel as one of the “51 great burger joints across the USA” or on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive Ins, & Dives.”  Don’t let the name fool you, Triple XXX is THE local diner joint.  With burgers made from 100% sirloin, they might as well be steak on a bun.   Triple XXX makes several items on the menu from scratch including their BBQ pork and potato salad. But, a for-sure must-try is the Duane Purvis Burger.  Forget the ketchup, mustard, or mayo… The Duane Purvis adds a touch of peanut butter.
